Many people on have touted that Hoodia is the equivalent to an herbal Phentermine as it helps
reduce appetite too. Some have even suggested that taking both of these at the same time will have beneficial effects on your weight control.
Phentermine is a controlled drug that is used primarily as a weight control drug. Its effects include loss of appetite (same as Hoodia), elevated
level of concentration, metabolism and also heart rate and pressure. Hoodia on the other hand only concentrates on the appetite control and does
not have the other side-effects as mentioned earlier.
I personally feel quite strongly about diet pills and other types of medication that is used to
treat obesity. Good medication would have very few side-effects and give results. Good medication should be relatively boring and should not be
able to give tweakers a high by using them. Good medication should be relatively safe and not have any effect on the mind or the heart. It is
based on this that I say that I don’t like diet medication like Phentermine. I personally feel that there are far too many side-effects and
things that can potentially go wrong if a patient decides to use the drug.
It has been reported that Phentermine has also been used by recreational drug users who are
chasing the high. It has been said that the effects of higher doses of Phentermine mimic those of a commonly used amphetamine called “ice” or
“speed”. This is “high” is the actual side-effects that Phentermine exhibits which to some people is highly addictive. Again this is very
dangerous as addiction to a diet medication can be very dangerous and deadly if used in the long-run.
On the other hand Hoodia is much milder on the system and works in such a way that it does not
promote constant use like other man-made diet medication like Phentermine. Hoodia is not in anyway psycho-active and as such does not affect a
patient’s heart rate, mental state or even blood pressure. The only thing Hoodia does is that it excretes a certain chemical similar to what
glucose excretes. This in effect fools the body to think that it’s already had a lot of glucose and thus shuts off hunger signals. Hoodia doesn’t
actually work on the brain to forcefully make it do something that it otherwise wouldn’t.
The worst thing a patient can do is to decide to use both drugs at the same time. Although
Hoodia is known to have no side-effects, combining it with a psycho-active drug is very dangerous as no proper study has been conducted to
determine if it is both medications are safe to be consumed together. Personally I wouldn’t recommend it since both also work on appetite
suppression. You could possibly overdose with taking both pills. No matter how you look at it, the risks are simply too high for a small “diet”
reward.
